This mesmerising brooch measures 4cm high, 3.2cm wide and it weighs 7.2 g.  The hallmarks are small and tricky to photograph, the date letter is clear 'R' (Edinburgh Silver Dates to 1991) and 'DJ' as a separate mark.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis piece was produced in 1991 by Dust Jewellery (founded by Norman Grant circa 1975). By this date Grant was working as a consultant for De Beers in London, but the company continued making jewellery in his signature style using the original designs and techniques.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNorman Grant (1943–2017) was a Scottish silversmith and jeweller celebrated for his vibrant, nature-inspired translucent enamel work on sterling silver.  Born in Forres, Moray, he studied at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen from the early 1960s.  He began creating jewellery in his garden shed in the late 1960s, and his colourful, organic designs quickly gained popularity, selling through Liberty’s, Harrods, and international retailers.  His pieces were worn by celebrities including Mick Jagger, Elton John, and Billy Connolly.  In the mid-1970s, following a chance meeting with marketing expert John Flegg, Grant co-founded Dust Jewellery (Dust Ltd) in Lundin Links, Fife.  The workshop produced enamelled silver and later innovative titanium pieces, employing a small team and building a strong reputation for quality and creativity.  Pieces were initially marked “NG” and later with the DJ maker’s mark.  In the early 1980s, Grant moved to London to work as a consultant for the De Beers Group, stepping back from day-to-day design and production at Dust.  The company continued making jewellery in his established signature style into the 1990s before eventually closing.  In 1986, he co-founded Grant Walker, an international jewellery consultancy.  Norman Grant passed away in 2017 and  his wonderful work remains highly collectible.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Bramble \u0026 Lily","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57596010365302,"sku":"D67711714","price":200.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0333\/5323\/6616\/files\/71FA1B91-72CE-4305-972F-AB48261860D6.jpg?v=1775940705","url":"https:\/\/www.brambleandlily.com\/products\/n","provider":"Bramble \u0026 Lily","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
