This charming Victorian brooch, is shaped like a playing card spade, possibly symbolising wisdom and acceptance or a sentimental tribute, featuring a captivating cobalt blue, red, and gold enamel centre with a guilloché like texture.  The cobalt enamel highlights a floral motif with tiny paste stones on painted gold petals  and a red enamel centre, reflecting the mid-to-late 19th century blend of elegance and personal meaning.

Crafted on gilded metal, this utterly charming brooch dazzles with hand-cut paste stones in closed back settings, their varied sizes (some with minor, original chipping) offering a brilliant sparkle reminiscent of the era’s gem imitations.  The simple rollover (C-clasp) with a rudimentary hinge and extended pin, is typical of mid-Victorian craftsmanship, while the patina and softened facets enhance its antique appeal.  A delightful rare collectible, this piece captures the Victorian spirit, measuring 2.8cm high and 2.3cm at its widest point and weighing 4.7g.  A beautiful eye-catching brooch, which would make a great gift for a card player and antique lover.  The antique box is for display purposes only and is not for sale.
