Majorica Hand Knotted Lavender/Grey 6mm Pearl 925 Silver Gold Vermeil Necklace

Majorica Hand Knotted Lavender/Grey 6mm Pearl 925 Silver Gold Vermeil Necklace featuring a Majorican hand knotted pearl necklace with a slide clasp stamped '925' and 'B' on the back.  The clasp displays a 10mm half pearl with an open work back, stamped '925' and '51' stamped next to it (possibly to reference the length of the necklace).  The back is also stamped 'MAJORICA' as well as possibly the makers mark between two small hearts. The necklace has a gold vermeil safety chain with a spring ring clasp stamped '925'.  These beautiful pearls have a lavender/grey body colour with the prettiest soft pink and green overtones and with subtle undertones of blue and yellow.  The necklace measures 51cm and it weighs 38.1g.

Mallorca pearls are imitation pearls that are produced, using a secret process, on the island of Majorca, Spain.  Spherical pieces of opaque white glass of a similar weight to real pearls are dipped into a special mixture of pearly essence called "Essence d'Orient"; which is made of substances extracted from ground up fish scales and shells and mixed with a resin like substance.  Many layers are needed to achieve a pearl of size, then they are sealed with a lacquer and polished; the result is a very real appearance that is durable and affordable.
