Majorica Hand Knotted Pearl Necklace with Asymmetrical Integral 925 Silver (Gold Vermeil) Grape or Flower Pendant Front Fastening

Majorica Hand Knotted Pearl Necklace with Asymmetrical Integral 925 Silver (Gold Vermeil) Grape or Flower Pendant Front Fastening featuring a 44cm long Majorica hand knotted faux glass pearl necklace with a grape or flower pearl pendant measuring 3.5cm x 2.5cm including the two leaves. This lovely necklace has a discreet clasp at the back of the pendant, which is 925 silver gold vermeil, which polishes beautifully. The main pendant is stamped with numbers '925', which has missed slightly and next to this, letters and numbers possibly 'BB1' or '881'. On the back is another stamp, which I believe is the Majorica 'M', which is quite indistinct, but I am positive this is a Majorica piece, as it has all the Majorica attributes you would expect to see. It weighs 32.3g and it has 57 uniform pearls 7mm diameter, with 7 further vari size pearls displayed on the pendant. Mallorca pearls are imitation pearls that are produced, using a secret process, on the island of Majorca, Spain. Spherical pieces of opaque white glass of a similar weight to real pearls are dipped into a special mixture of pearly essence called "Essence d'Orient"; which is made of substances extracted from ground up fish scales and shells and mixed with a resin like substance. Many layers are needed to achieve a pearl of size; then they are sealed with a lacquer and polished; the result is a very real appearance that is durable and affordable.
