Memento mori means 'remember that you must die' and to cherish each day as it is a reminder of the imminence of death. Rather than being macabre, memento mori jewellery is meant to act as a reminder to cherish each day you’re alive. Memento mori jewellery was typically decorated with skulls, crossbones, skeletons, coffins, and worms which all seems a little odd today. Wonderfully hand carved from natural salmon coral, and threaded with an unmarked silver pin, he actually has quite a friendly jovial face, with beautifully clear striations and inclusions.
