Butler & Wilson mid-1980s Imperial Collection brooch, inspired by the ceremonial style of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.  Its eight-point sunburst design with gold plate finish recalls Imperial Russian Orders.  A pavé set Swarovski crystal round centre sits within a clear enamel ring with a metallic red base, and bold raised black lettering ‘BUTLER . WILSON .’  Drawing from the ornate traditions of Britain’s Victoria Cross, Russia’s Order of St. Andrew, and other global honours, this piece evokes patriotism and prestige.  This gorgeous brooch has a rollover clasp and it measures 8.3cm high and 8.3cm wide and it weighs 461g.  It has the iconic round cartouche on the reverse stamped 'BUTLER WILSON' with the '&' in the centre.  Notably Princess Diana wore a similar Butler and Wilson Imperial Collection Maltese brooch, which she set at the centre of her Murray Arbeid Flamenco Dress, for the premiere of The Mission in 1986.  The brooch was bought for her as a gift in Marshall Field's store in Chicago by Prince Charles, knowing her love of the brand.  This gorgeous brooch is a bold accessory that nods to historical regalia and shouts 1980's.  A rare find in excellent condition.
