Butler and Wilson Limited Edition Dancing Couple Brooch

Butler and Wilson Limited Edition Dancing Couple Brooch featuring a dress of purple Swarovski Crystals of which the last 6.5cm are seven separate strands, which create a lot of movement. The tuxedo is made up of maroon Swarovski Crystals and the bow tie is made up of black Swarovski Crystals and the faces are single large clear Swarovski Crystals. First designed by Simon Wilson in the 1980s, this iconic brooch is a must for any collector. This brooch has a rollover pin and is 13.5cm long and 6.8cm at its widest point and it weighs 32.4g. The iconic round cartouche is on the back stamped 'BUTLER & WILSON' along with the etched words above and below the cartouche 'Limited' and 'Edition'.

In the early 1970’s, two British Antique jewellers and designers, Nicky Butler and Simon Wilson started their own company, Butler & Wilson. Their jewellery was well made and utilised Austrian rhinestones and crystals all prong set and set into base gun metal, rhodium, polished gold plated or silver plated metals. The jewellery was very popular and was sought after because of its global flair. The jewellery is marked “B & W” or Butler & Wilson. The partnership broke up in the 1990’s with Simon Wilson retaining the Butler and Wilson name. Since that time, Nicky Butler, under his own name, has designed and manufactured costume jewellery. They are probably most famous for this particular piece, their 1930s style "dancing couple" brooch and the late Princess Diana was a huge fan, her daughter-in-law Kate Middleton has also been seen wearing B&W, quite likely in homage to her husband's late mother.
