The brooch by CN (Ciner New York) Ciner for the MMA (Metropolitan Museum of Art) is directly inspired by Peter Carl Faberge's 'The Lilies of The Valley Egg', which was presented to Emporor Nicholas II in 1898, who gave it as a gift to his wife Empress
Alexandra Feodorovna. The Faberge piece had a mounted diamond, which when pressed would cause the crown to rise, revealing three medallion miniature portraits of Emperor Nicholas II and two of the royal children Olga and Tatiana with the date 1898-5-IV inscribed on the back.
