UNSIGNED Attwood and Sawyer 22ct Gold Plate Mother and Calf Giraffe Brooch comprising gold plated cells filled with black enamel. The brooch is 6cm tall and 1.9cm at its widest point and it weighs 19g. It has a rollover clasp and it should be signed A&S on the reverse, but this is missing.
This may be a test piece or proof using the black enamel as opposed to the sparkling bronze and gold enamel that was released? A lovely hard to come by piece for any Attwood and Sawyer collector and/or a giraffe or animal lover.
Attwood and Sawyer was founded in 1956 in Porthcawl, Wales by Mr Horace Attwood and Mr Sawyer. Many of the designs, now highly collectible, were inspired by historical references, including their most recognisable collection inspired by the jewellery collection of the Duchess of Windsor. Popular in the UK and Europe, they went on to produce the jewellery for the television series Dynasty.
