A RARE Butler and Wilson hand brooch in Original Box (As New), based on Coro's 1940's bejewelled elegant hand brooch, which was designed to symbolise 'friendship'. Butler and Wilson's version from the 1980's is approximately 2.4cm longer than the Coro version, which means the fingers with the red enamelled fingernails are more elongated and a lot sleeker and slimmer.
London based Butler and Wilson are most famous for their 1930s style "dancing couple" brooch and the late Princess Diana was a huge fan, her daughter-in-law Kate Middleton has also been seen wearing B&W, quite likely in homage to her husband's late mother.
Made of smooth, shiny yellow gold tone metal the wrist is adorned with a wide bracelet and a large emerald cut faux ruby in the centre. There is also a golden ring on one finger, with a large princess cut faux ruby solitaire.
The brooch is 9cm long and 3.2cm wide. It has a textured gilt base and a long pin with rollover clasp, weighing 23.9g and signed B&W within a round cartouche on the reverse. Highly collectible and desirable.
