Victoria and Albert Museum (Circa. 1750-1780) Replica French of Bow Dropper Opaline Glass and Paste brooch (AB Stones) in Original V&A Box featuring a beautiful replica of a 18th Century French (Louis XV) pave set double bow and domed pear-shaped dropper with bezel set faceted round opaline and aurora borealis stones and with a single larger faceted pear-shaped opaline stone at the centre. Opaline glass was very popular at this time, created with a high lead content, which made it a demi crystal, it was a cheaper alternative to opals and made in areas such as baccarat, Le Cruesot, Reunion and Saint-Louis. It is signed on the reverse 'V&A' and it has a rollover clasp. It measures 6.6cm long and 4.5cm at its widest point and it weighs 30.3g. A very pretty replica of an opaline and paste 18th century French brooch from the V&A in its original box.
