Yves Saint Laurent 1980's Robert Goossens Chartreuse Resin and Crystal Necklace in Original Box featuring a necklace by the highly revered jewellery designer Robert Goossens, comprising chartreuse green resin cushion-shaped stones with a slightly larger stone at the front, sitting above a feature tear-shaped stone. A lovely fresh chartreuse green, the stones alternate with clear triangular faceted crystals, other versions of this necklace have plain gold triangles, so this has a lot more sparkle. This lovely necklace is 38cm long and with a 6cm extender and it weighs 90.2g. It has a spring ring clasp and the hangtag is stamped with the iconic vertical 'YSL' and it has 'Made In France' on the reverse.  The back of the larger square resin stone is also stamped 'E8'.

A gorgeous piece, with a little age related crazing under some of the resin jewels and a small dot at the base of one square, but only on very close inspection, please see photographs. The gold tone reverse is excellent and the overall condition is Very Good.  A classic piece by the inimitable Monsieur Bijou, Robert Goossens.

The son of a foundry worker, Robert Goossens was born in Paris, France in 1927.  He served a jewellery apprenticeship at a young age, and went on to become an exceptional jewellery designer, earning himself the moniker Monsieur Bijou during his career-defining collaboration with Coco Chanel.  Goossens was well known for his work for Chanel, but he also worked regularly for Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Balenciaga as well as other prominent design houses.  His love of paintings and artefacts in Paris museums heavily influenced his work, which was mostly inspired by Maltese, Byzantine and Renaissance design.  Robert Goossens died in 2016 at the age of 88, and in many people's view, is arguably the greatest costume jewellery designer of all time.
